Autumn Gold

Fall continues to be incredible. Last week I was discussing the Brown Trout spawn with Jack from Arizona. He mentioned a spot to me I hadn’t been to in a while.

Josh wanted to fish today and I don’t know anyone with more experience with Browns during the spawn. We ran up to check it out and OH MY GOSH!! Havent ever had a day like today on a river. Browns were willing and big. Most of them stretched 20 inches with a few going 21, 22, and a little bigger. I was way under gunned with the 5wt, should have taken the 6 but the reel’s still on the way. All fish fought like crazy and one took me to my backing. Not much else to say…. here are some pictures.

Oh My goodness! I have to say that brown trout have always been my favorite. I still remember catching what I thought was a monster on the Sevier river when I was a teenager. It was the biggest fish I had ever seen! Those browns beat any I ever dreamed of! Way to go Josh and Kyle. What a great day on the river!

    Dude,
I am so glad that I ended my fall fishing with that trip. It will forever be one that I’ll always remember and will give me something to dream about through the winter! Let me know when you hit the ice!

    Hello
I stumbled across your websit from some comments you made in azflyandtie.
It sounds like you are a Utah transplant like me. Thanks for posting the picks. I am have been trying to find information about were to fish down here in AZ, but i haven’t had time yet to really explore due to work. I’ve only been up to the Sedona area. But we are heading up to fish the Green and Jones Hole in UT during the Holidays. Looks like this last trip of yours was pretty sweet,

Thanks for the comment Conner. I have been super busy with finals at school and havent blogged or fished much at all. Have fun at the Green and Jones! We should hook up and fish when I get down there. I wanna learn the Whites.

I’m still jealous of this day! A great day sticking hogs! It’ll give you [another] reason to come back to UT.
